What if that's OOC for our villain? What if we want to play a villain character that wouldn't conform to that but would still be an asset to "the Team" and other Rockets?
While I do see the point here, I think in that comment you linked me to you may be missing the point of the missions board as a whole. Those are prompts for jobs that can be done rather than having to do any sort of set requirement in terms of stealing, yes; the point that was brought up in argument against that was the following:
It's full time job like being cooped up in labs or mandatory weekly catching and to be honest neither are appealing OR allow for freedom. One would interrupt traveling and trying to anything constantly if players were even remotely decent with it instead of handwaving it and the other would mean they COULDN'T do any of that.
Again, I understand the point being made here.
What's not being taken into consideration, however, is the fact that the missions board is not an actual restriction; it's something to be used to give us ideas for ways that our characters can assist the team, and if it sparks something, then that's great, we can sign up for it. If it doesn't, then we can suggest alternatives to what's there. Malik, for example, has already done so in asking if he can assist at one of the Game Corners; he did this very early on, and the mods were perfectly fine with it.
For another example, Kimblee here is odd about cleanliness, particularly when it comes to his clothes. I brought it up to the mods that he would be a rather unwilling participant in the last event because of that; at my request, he was put up in Mahogany Town instead to run signal interference - because he knows the old base's layout and the locations of all its traps, he could better defend it should someone try to break in and cause trouble for him than a grunt or a new Rocket member, and he would be less made of UGH NO when it came to doing the mission itself and so he would stay on-task and be less likely to get distracted or try to come up with excuses to avoid everything. Ara joked with me a bit by calling it a "special snowflake" mission, but the point is that he was reassigned to something he could do, simply because I asked.
Those prompts are not the only things we are allowed to do within TR. If your character would be an asset in another way that would not involve stealing or the jobs listed, bring it to a mod directly.
