EVALUATE MY BATTLING!

Trainer Tip: play nice and keep it civil.

things to keep in mind:
→ This is encouraged, not mandatory. We will not penalize you for not using it.
→ Feel free to link your personal HMDs if you would like, just in case someone doesn't want to use the mass HMD post.
→ this is more for actual critique and discussion. Please don't just blindly praise a person or just call them horrible. If someone's doing a wonderful job, you can tell them, just tell them why, or even where they're showing off bonus perks. If someone's doing a not-so-wonderful job, tell them why, give them things to improve on if you can. Examples, links, things that can give them something to work on. Meaning, no bashing, flaming, or nasty behavior. Please keep it civil.
→ Anonymous is turned on! But note: anonymous is a privilege, not a right. If it's being abused to bash players, please be sure to let one of us know and we'll step in or freeze threads if necessary. If anonymous is abused too much, it will be turned off for the next HMD.
→ Don't take this all too personally! Remember that roleplay is a game, and crit is supposed to help, not make you feel horribly. No one is perfect, we've all got room to improve. Please keep that in mind.

I have to agree with the above anon on Crocker's self-pity.

You've got his craziness down very well. I actually like the different sizes of text that you use to denote how unhinged he is. But I have to admit that I'm unsure about how to tag Crocker because he's a lot more angsty than I remember. I know he had crap circumstances but Fairly Oddparents is a children's cartoon. None of that is discussed very seriously in the show and by constantly focusing on it as one of Crocker's defining traits I think you're making him less funny and less, for lack of a better word, "cartoony". So he feels less like the cartoon character he is in the show and more of an OC that's based somewhat on the character but placed in the real world with real-life consequences. I think you'd benefit if you stopped playing him as a real person and remember that at the end of the day Crocker's past isn't meant to be taken as seriously as it should be in real life.

Also, you're forgetting this is a Nick cartoon, and Nick cartoons always have an undertone of darkness, whether they're kid’s shows or not. Espcially, the 90's Nick shows and Fairly Oddparents did start in the 90s (and the timeframe I'm playing Crocker from not that reboot crap with Poof.) did start from Plus everyone is having Nightmares.

Believe me, Timmy mun, would kick my virtual (they know FOP almost as well as I do) and would complain to me if something was wrong.

As far as the text quirk goes, if you tell me what characters you play, I'll make a note to try a different when tagging your characters.

Fairly Oddparents has its moments where it does tackle serious issues but at its core it's really just meant for a laugh. I don't recall many episodes where Crocker's issues are really taken seriously; most of the time they're just used to highlight how crazy he is. Again I do feel that by focusing on the dark side of the show you're not making Crocker as funny as he ought to be and definitely less comical, which is a big aspect of his character that I remember while watching the show.

I'm all for the comfort of the majority. I can live with or without the text size differences. But thank you anyway for making an effort.

Appreciate the concern; however, Timmy’s player would really be the first one to tell me something if something was wrong with Crocker. You also, keep saying from what you remember and memory isn’t the best thing after so many years. Really, you see cute kid Crocker transform into his ugly kid self and what the man will look like as an adult.

You’re welcome! <3

Please don't disregard crit just because it isn't from a castmate. People who aren't castmates who are still fans of the show but don't necessarily RP from it may have input that a castmate may not, which doesn't mean it's wrong or should be discarded so easily. We leave the anonymous function on and open our HMD to all players who have input, not just castmate to castmate.

Also, please refrain from being rude to those who are offering critiques. They're giving their opinions because they wish to help you grow as a player, and having a dismissive or rude attitude isn't appreciated.

Understand my apologies.

But it doesn't change the fact that older Nick cartoons have a darker edge, and FOP is paricualar darker edged with Crocker as you see the sweet boy transform into a monster, in Secret Origin of Denzel Crocker, or when Crocker is also seen in the asylum in Abra Catastrophe, both in a non comedic event and once again there is a nightmare plot going on.

Let me clarify - I'm not the anon who spoke with you; I'm Sunny, speaking as a mod in response to your conduct in this post rather than about about the actual criticism in question.

I know 90s cartoons had a more grimdark edge to some, which can be interpreted or explored against in RP. We have opened it up to grim situations, and we have many characters from 90s cartoons who have explored a darker setting. However, not every grimdark situation is the same and not every character reacts similarly. Sometimes people have differing opinions. And when faced by a differing opinion, you do not just argue it down dismissively because it's not from a castmate.

That coupled with the attitude are the reasons I stepped in. I don't mind if you want to debate your argument with the anon you were speaking with to explain the characterization, but take note of this:

You don't need to be rude and you don't need to just dismiss it because it isn't coming from Timmy's player.

I'm not going to argue for or against your point with 90s cartoons. I'm speaking only in regards to your conduct.
