+1 Scrawny Planeswalking Spellcasting Barbarian Kid

I'm finally doing one of these again! \o/

I'm Goggs, player of Apollo (whateveryoueatliveitspart), and I'm here to introduce my second character, Domri Rade, from Magic: The Gathering. Domri's from the plane of Ravnica, which is like a fantasy version of Coruscant; every plain, sea, swamp, mountain, and forest has been covered by city, and the "wilderness" is just an area of ruined, overgrown buildings. Domri's a member of the Gruul Clans, a group of barbarians who try to destroy civilization so that nature can cover the world again.

Needless to say, he's going to be pretty happy to see how much real wilderness the Pokémon world has.

He can normally use magic to summon, control, and enhance animals, meaning that Pokémon battles aren't exactly new to him. He just normally does them with two-story-tall bull-like animals and wurms that can swallow small buildings. He's also a Planeswalker, meaning that he can move between worlds, so randomly ending up here won't be too much of a shock either. Domri will be coming in as a trainer with Rubbleback the Rhyhorn.

Poor Domri, this place has no proper wurms or hydras to play with.

At least the Pokemon here aren't that dangerous compared to the wildlife at home.

Onix and Hydreigon will have to do. But the more important thing is the limit of six. He can't have a good stampede with only six animals!

The relative lack of danger will be an interesting change for him. It'll probably take him a bit to get used to being able to stay out at night without some predator coming after him.

...Now, funny thing, I had never expected to tapdance around canon issues, but Imogen did name one of her Pokemon after a part of Zendikar so... cause who would app from M:tG but. Haha, yeah. Is it cool if she's aware of what Ravnica is, she'll be carful not to bring up the Trading Card thing.

They would. He'll have to spook a wild herd or something to get the numbers up.

I have no idea who would ever app from MtG. All I've ever seen are tentative Chandras who never seem to get apped anywhere. I don't think anyone could have predicted that such a minor character would show up. (He shouldn't be so minor though. He needs a whole book.)

I don't mind if she knows about Ravnica (is she from before or after Gatecrash came out?). He probably wouldn't believe or understand the TCG thing, but avoiding that is probably ideal, just in case.

He really should have gotten more. I also wanted to see more of Ruric and Thar. The whole Gruul group from the past set were amazing. ...I also may play a Gruul deck so I really liked them this block.

She's after Return/Gatecrash came out, but she probably hasn't played in a few years. So she wouldn't know about him. Just the general (and outdated) info on Ravnica, the guilds, etc. I honestly thought picking a Pokename from Magic wouldn't come up, since Imogen's pokenaming is eccentric and everywhere.

Ruric Thar at least got some scenes in the ebooks for the block. They were interesting to watch. No such luck for poor Domri. Or Vraska. Or even Gideon. They got nothing. Jace hogged those ebooks, and he isn't a very compelling protagonist.

It's hardly something that you could have foreseen. Fortunately he won't recognize the name, which should reduce the risk of awkward conversations.

I know someone who used to play Jace in another game! Though that game's long since ended and I don't know if he ever apped him elsewhere.... XD

Still, it's a surprise to find out that anyone has actually played a Magic character before.

And thinking about it, Domri meeting Jace would be a hilarious disaster, considering they're enemy colors. XD
