Those new to the game this cycle, welcome! I'm Fetchie ([plurk.com profile] fetchie88 - feel free to friend me <3) and I guess by this point I might count as a veteran player. I already have Ken from Digimon, Malik from Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Kanade from Symphogear in play. Today I'm introducing something totally novel: a girl who sings!

We have so few of those now, it's shocking, I know. But I am pretty sure this is the only evil one. (Also the only one who is secretly an anglerfish.) Rounding out my cast list at #4 is a breeder, Sister Mimi from Mermaid Melody: Pichi Pichi Pitch!

Mimi is one half of a villain duo known as the "Black Beauty Sisters", two young ladies who spend countless episodes attempting to capture a bunch of mermaids and failing every time. Fortunately, they've always got another trick up their sleeves and they've got each other's backs - think animé!Team Rocket as girls in leather with fins. (Especially if you Rocketship, since here, it's canon.)

Mimi for her part is a bit of a brat and a sycophant! She's been pulled from the middle of a fight with her partner in crime, so she'll do her best on her own while being Secretly Very Lonely. Her IC intro is already up here, so feel free to stop by if you like!

It's all up on Veoh raw, if that works! (What subs exist for the second season are mostly horrifically incorrect and distracting, alas.)

I have also found summer to be a particularly good time to just kick back and watch some really adorable mermaids sing J-pop to defeat evil. But that might just be me. :P

It is okay. I don't think I will be able to understand much with the raw. LOL I have tried the subs in Youtube before so I know how horrible they can be. I think that is why I stopped.

LOL I second that. Though it is sadly time for school for me. But enjoy the singing mermaid idols!

This is very true, sadly. And it is sad, because a Mimi without a SheShe is a very sad thing. :(

I've gone through or at least tried a lot of shoujo in my day. PPP had mermaids and music though so it stuck out a bit.

It is a pretty memorable concept, yeah. I need to watch more slice of life shoujo, myself....

Slice of life shoujo... hm. It's not slice of life, but you should watch AKB0048 on principle if you aren't already. >_>

Haven't seen all of these, but...

As far as slice of life shoujo goes: Bokura ga Ita, Kare Kano, Hana Yori Dango, NANA, Nodame Cantabile, Hanasakeru Seishounen

Other things that could kind of get lumped into this catagory: Kiniro no Corda, Yumeiro Patissiere, Ultra Maniac, Kaleido Star

Magical girl shows that are still fairly slice of life...kinda: Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne, Sugar Sugar Rune, Pretear, Princess Tutu, Sailor Moon

Oh, no worries, I most certainly am. ^_^ It is quite possibly relevant to every single one of my interests.

I'm familiar with all of those shows myself, though I haven't seen many - just the magical girl ones, and even then I need to finish a few. ^_^; My track record seems to be "have heard of everything, try everything, finish things as the mood strikes me".

Just as planned. :3 It should be relevant to everyone's interests imho, but I am biased.

I'm familiar with them too. I just... haven't seen many of them either. Because I'm exactly the same way. Hear of all the things, try most of them, finish hardly any of them.
