TRAINER TIPS:

For Plots - We don't plan on making any plot a one-day thing, especially without prior knowledge. I'm not sure if you were around for a decision we decided when playerbase requested receiving knowledge a week or two before larger plots in order to have time to plan for them. Please don't think would just throw a one-day plot on you guys out of nowhere. Echoing Mei, for the 'Mod Plot' we had listed, that's just a day we'll get information out to you guys, a heads-up knowing that something is going to happen or something will be posted on that day letting you know more details on it. It's more or less so people know something's to come - for actual details, including the length of plots, information will be on r29. We've changed the wording from 'plot' to 'post' so it'll be a little less confusing.

As for Rockets, they will matter. We haven't even put anything out for them yet! I'm honestly not sure why we're jumping to the conclusion that they're just plot devices. We've just announced our basic ideas, but later this week we plan on announcing more with them. As we said, we're just now getting to throw out some of the changes.

For the plot post, we won't know anything until we try it. Please don't just assume that the playerbase or all of us are going to ruin something we haven't even tried yet. We've never had a group plot-ideas sort of post before: I have faith in the playerbase that we can do something good with this once we try it out. I can't convince you that it's going to go perfectly or even go as planned, but I have faith that everyone is at least going to try when it happens. I can't say at all that it's going to go wrong, especially because it hasn't happened yet.

As for swarms: they were only one or two day events. That's how swarms have been since we introduced them. They're companions to some larger events at times, in terms of spreading pokémon about, but they're just random additions, and they'll be spread about in different areas at different times. Swarms aren't even in the games for widespread catching for everyone.

All in all: Most of these changes need to actually take effect before they can be proven as something that works or something that works. If it doesn't work, we'll tweak it and try again. If it does work, great! But we're all going to have to wait and see. This post was only made four days ago. We can't provide IMMEDIATE changes. That's impossible. We can only provide what we're hoping to change and how we strive towards fixing it, and we hope our players are willing to cooperate and let us know their feelings along the way once things get rolling.

I'm glad you like the gym post idea, though! And thank you for letting us know.

Regarding the upcoming plot, and plots in general, does that mean that once information becomes available, it will be added to the calendar?

I tend to agree with the OP at least on that, though I do think they're jumping the gun on all of this. But I'm... really not sure what the point of it is if you're not going to put the information and lengths on there? What is the point of it, exactly, except a new looking version of the weather posts then?

For the calendar, it's just our first time using it! We just put the one date on there to let people know something's coming, but we're going to make sure the calendar's reflect the upcoming days as everything is planned and announced. We're still messing with the system we plan on using with it, but we're going to mark more.

So in other words it could be useless looking at it from a monthly perspective if you plan on announcing something during the month and then adding it to the calendar?

Seems counter-productive to me.

That is... exactly what you said. You said you're going to mark the calendar as you announce things, implying it will be done instead of in advance.

If your event isn't concrete by now, why are you already talking about it? You should have had all of that done long before you announced it, which you did just by putting it on the calendar. I know the lack of foresight on you mods' part has been brought up before, so I'll just say I'm bringing it up again and leave it at that.

It's because we're still planning the proper days, and then the calendar will reflect it and we'll have the details out for everyone.
