Operation Pory-Con!
Hey, Routers! Alex here, with a little bit of explanation for what's not exactly a player plot, but which does provide some context for the spam mail many characters ended up receiving last night...
So for a while now, there've been OOC jokes tossed around about how, with an ever-growing Porygon population in Route (and their antics hitting the network more and more often as a result), it'd be really funny to set up an unofficial Porygon Alliance™ such that all of them could meet each other, hang out, and just kind of generally be secret internet buddies while their trainers aren't watching.
ICly, it'd just be a big hangout and kind of the Porygon equivalent of a mass friending meme; OOCly, it'd be neat to see just how many people have Porygons (or Gear-utilizing Rotoms) out there, and what their respective quirks are, and so on and so forth.
So! After a recent IC discussion between Zack and Zip the Porygons, which resulted in the idea of setting up a secret Porygon convention and calling it Pory-Con, Zack ended up deciding to spread the word in the most efficient way he knew how:
By attaching an encrypted invitation to a familiar old piece of spam mail and starting it circulating on the network, figuring that the chain letter nature would make it more likely that every Porygon or Rotom out there would eventually be exposed to it, regardless of whether he personally knew of them or not.
Therefore! If you have a Porygon or a Rotom, feel free to assume that:
1) You received the spam message (or, if you'd like to receive it ICly, I'm sure there are plenty of willing volunteers who'd cheerfully assault your character inbox with it).
2) Your tech-savvy Pokemon was able to decrypt the attachment and discover the invitation, which is basically just a given time, a given date, and a server address.
As of right now, there aren't any set-in-stone plans for Pory-Con outside of "IDK, let's just get all the Porygons and Rotoms in the game together and let them talk to each other or something, FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC", but it'll probably take the form of a
route_1065 log that's essentially just..."this is a chat room, you are here, go nuts for donuts".
SO, if you have a Porygon or a Gear-using Rotom and you would like to attend, please feel free to use this post to chat with other participating players, tell us about your Pokemon, plot things, whatever! If someone would like to suggest a date for this thing, that would also be great. o/
And if you are simply one of the "unlucky" carriers of this message who wasn't an intended recipient of the invitation...well, enjoy your spam mail and here's hoping your crush kisses you next Wednesday? 8D
Either way, thank you for all the shenanigans that ensued from this (and please feel free to continue them to your heart's content!), because they've been nothing short of magical to watch. ♥
