IC Writing Contest

Good news, everyone! The local paper has roped Blake into running its annual writing contest. What does that mean for you? A chance to let your muse's muses free! Show their personality by giving their take on what's behind some of the Pokemon world's mysteries. If all goes well, you can win fabulous prizes, and at the very least, you'll have the warm feeling of knowing you annoyed Blake!

Here's the timeline:

Feb 1st: An IC post goes up announcing the contest. This will contain the prompts to write about and a link to a screened post to submit them to. If you don't want to write to the prompts,  write whatever you feel like!
Feb 1st to Feb 23rd: Write and submit! The length to aim for is around 300 words, though Blake isn't going to be real strict about enforcing any hard limits, except to stop anybody from writing eighteen pages. Yes, you. The one thinking about it.
Entries close at 11:59 pm Feb 23 Pacific time.
These will be sent through the mail, so your character can participate from anywhere in the world.

If your character is the artistic type, their entry may be illustrated! Entries may also be in the form of poetry!

Feb 24th: I collect all the entries, assign them numbers to make them anonymous, and put them up in a post for voting! Voting will be OOC, i.e. the ones you think are best, not the ones your character likes, because if we go that far down the rabbit hole the clocks start melting and things get weird.
Feb 24th to March 2nd: Voting will be open! This will be screened, and nobody will know who votes for what except me. You'll be able to rank your top 3 stories, then vote for the extra categories of Funniest and Most Likely To Be True.

Entries are one per character! If you have 5 characters, you can enter 5 times (one each), and hopefully you sleep sometimes! Voting ballots are one per player!

March 3rd: Voting closes, I tally up the votes, and prizes are awarded.

What can we win?

Now there's the important question.

Funniest: Special Prize
Most Likely to be True: Special Prize

3rd Place: P1000
2nd Place: P5000
1st Place: P7500 + Special Prize

What's this special prize? Well, the mods have stepped up to offer  First Place and the Special Categories each an outing with an NPC. This means one thread with an NPC that is guaranteed to be at least AC length.

OOC, it's a free third of your AC for the month! IC, your character can be motivated by the chance to have a romantic dinner, get a lesson in training Pokemon, grill them for information, go bowling with them, or try to jump them in a back alley! (Carter Blake is not responsible for any injuries taken in this course of action. ) NPCs available to choose from are TBA, so keep an eye out for the IC announcement.

UPDATE: The NPCs to choose from for your prize thread have been decided!

We've got three people offering a selection of three NPCs each, so to keep anyone from being picked three times and overwhelmed, they'll be offered in sets by player, and one from each set can be chosen. First choice of set goes to Grand Prize, and by the highly scientific process of me flipping a coin, Most Likely to be True gets second pick, and Funniest goes third.

Available NPCs are:

VICTORY
TEAM
EXCELSIOR
TEAM
TEAM DISCOVERY
CHANNEL
Morty
Sabrina
Chuck
Pryce
Blaine
Janine
Jasmine
Erika
Nurse Joy

For an example of how it works: If the Grand Prize winner picks Nurse Joy, then Most Likely to be True winner can pick from Victory or Excelsior. If they pick Blaine, then Funniest picks from Victory. So even if you go last you have three NPCs to choose from.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please inquire here!
