Blake is Terrible: The Plot

Hey Route,

I've been kicking around an idea that Blake should fall back into old psycho asshole habits. Namely, I was thinking he could beat up somebody innocent on suspicion of them having something to do with Emily's disappearance, and then deal with all the fallout from that incredibly bad decision: jail time, the victim's friends being pissed at Blake, Blake's friends being pissed at Blake, etc.

Parker's volunteered to get caught pickpocketing and be the beatee. That brings in another wrinkle, since if it comes out that she's a Rocket, that could give Blake another reason to claim he's justified, and also get all of Team Rocket pissed at him too.

This is just something I'm spitballing right now. Since it'd affect a lot of people, I wanted to toss it out there for opinions first. Thoughts? Feelings? Anybody who'd like to be involved, or specifically not be involved? Would "psycho cop beats up lady" be too dark for a game about pokemon adventures? Tell me what you think!

Also, hello, Alex (and Parker) here making myself available since I'm technically the other half of this.

It's presumably a given that all the standard precautionary measures would be applying here — cuts, warnings, locked posts if necessary — but like Caddy, I'm definitely willing to hear concerns and address them before any of this ever (potentially) goes down, because the last thing I want is to make anyone uncomfortable or create drama that people's characters can't opt out of if they don't want to contend with it. o/

I volunteer Lee to not take Blake's side but try to bring him back to being reasonable and somewhat sane. He's dealt with Lilly and Kenny in the past, he's experienced with dealing with crazies. Besides that he's also grieving a missing little girl. don't make him get the salt lick we can also discuss Lee's little secret coming out, possibly, because if we play it right Lee might let Blake wail on him (it's how he deals with angry grieving guardian/parents apparently). He'll leave Ushio with Laguna and come meet Blake in person if he has to.

Also if Shaun ever finds out about this... oh boy.

That would be an interesting time for Lee's secret to come out, maybe even while Blake's in jail, which'll probably be in Goldenrod. Hell, Blake could have a whole punching people spree.

Oh, hmmmm. Considering Hope has kind-of ties to Parker (they are in fact on speaking terms and she did give him a Porygon), he wouldn't be ignoring something like this and take Parker's side on this because what the hell mister, you don't do that to people. Even if they're Rockets-- should it come out of course.

Oh yeah, I'm totally up for basically anybody who knows Parker coming down against Blake. I figure he should come out of it with some grudges, enemies, and a solidly bad reputation at the least.

Out of curiosity and to get my own ducks in a row, when would you be scheduling this? It's okay if you don't have an exact date because an estimation would be completely fine for me at this moment.

Now that's the question. I figure I can say he left Violet a while ago, and there's a post I want to make with him going to Union Cave to pick up a Zubat first. Then we were figuring it could happen at the National Park by Goldenrod. Checking the map, that's about 9 days from Union Cave. So maybe two weeks from now? Depending on how things work out for everybody else.

According to my calendar, Hope would be in Olivine by then because he has a meeting on the 4th. If later though, he'd be flying off to New Bark to catch a ship to Pallet. Depending on the day, he may just appear in person. Is this okay with you?

Rude's not going to be that bothered. What is Rocket loyalty? He's also not going to be terribly surprised/horrified by Blake's actions because given their previous chat/spar, Blake doing something like this doesn't surprise him that much.

What he will be doing though is dropping by to visit Blake. He's not condoning Blake's actions, but he does know that sometimes, you just need someone to not judge you for a mistake.

Aw. Friendship. Rude doesn't seem like the kind to get surprised or horrified by much.

As soon as Blake's thinking more clearly, he'll know it was a mistake, so he'll be even more defensive about it. It'll be good to have somebody nonjudgmental around.

When you've dealt with eco-terrorists and a close end-of-the-world scenario, you'll find it's pretty hard to beat those.

Would Blake be up for a game of cards by any chance? Rude's got a deck. They could play Blackjack or Poker or something.

Yep, he's just a standard run-of-the-mill asshole who doesn't even have a giant sword or magic rocks. Can't even put Rude off his stride.

Yes! That would be awesome. Everybody else is there to yell at him (for good reason) for being a bastard, Rude just wants to play cards.

I'm not sure how this will work out; is there a certain sequence of events that you would prefer to happen?

Here's the rough idea I have in mind:

-Blake runs into Parker at the National Park, sees her pickpocketing people, confronts her and sees she has a bow that looks like Emily's
-Demands to know where Emily is, Parker has no idea what he's talking about, he thinks she's playing dumb, things escalate and get out of hand until there are fisticuffs
-Blake gets hauled away to Goldenrod Jail by Kangaskhan police, because what the hell, man
-Various fallout, people come by to say what the hell, man

But I'm flexible on just about everything.

Alright, so...Rude would probably be one of the last to drop by to see Carter because he doesn't like to be in crowds that much. He'll probably start with asking Carter how he's doing. Carter's probably going to lash out at him, after which Rude will take out a deck of cards and play a few rounds with Carter, just to give him something else to think about instead of his mistake. Rude's a decent card player but just for this time round he'll let Carter win more than he losses. Rude will then sum up what happened by saying that Carter just lost this time and that he'll win again later.

From what I've been reading, it sounds like Blake's potentially going to get in trouble with a lot of people before the Kangaskhan Police even arrive. If this is true, would you be up for Rude intercepting and trying to mediate the situation?

Sure! It'd make sense for people in the area to be restraining him, and I'd like him to get stopped before any serious damage happens.

Depending on when you do it Carol might be around to play superhero "No, we don't beat people up unless they did something serious" if need be. She doesn't have powers but she can still probably stop him if needed.

She's not a very good psycho-whisperer though.

Blake has a distance to go too, so maybe about two weeks?

She's not to violet city yet and she's going to take the time to train so she can beat the gym leaders as she hits them. I might find a way to get her up to Goldenrod in two weeks though.

I am totally enthused about Blake getting beaten up by people when he deserves it (ie, always).

Oh man, Reno's taken a bit of a shine to Parker, so I don't think he'll be super happy if she gets beaten up. Not sure if he'll go out of his way to pick a fight with Blake, since he wouldn't know the man's strengths.... but there would definitely be some underlying animosity! ENEMIESSS

His strengths are temper, not thinking things through, and being an asshole, so he's not that formidable an opponent, compared to world-ending monster things.

Blake always needs more enemies!
