EVALUATE MY BATTLING!

TRAINER TIPS:
→ This is encouraged, not mandatory. We will not penalize you for not using it.
→ Feel free to link your personal HMDs if you would like, just in case someone doesn't want to use the mass HMD post.
→ this is more for actual critique and discussion. Please don't just blindly praise a person or just call them horrible. If someone's doing a wonderful job, you can tell them, just tell them why, or even where they're showing off bonus perks. If someone's doing a not-so-wonderful job, tell them why, give them things to improve on if you can. Examples, links, things that can give them something to work on. Meaning, no bashing, flaming, or nasty behavior. Please keep it civil.
→ Anonymous is turned on! But note: anonymous is a privilege, not a right. If it's being abused to bash players, please be sure to let one of us know and we'll step in or freeze threads if necessary. If anonymous is abused too much, it will be turned off for the next HMD.
→ Don't take this all too personally! Remember that roleplay is a game, and crit is supposed to help, not make you feel horrible. No one is perfect, we've all got room to improve. Please keep that in mind.

MOD/GAME HMD

NOTE: we've seen and are discussing all the issues brought up on the HMD! Thanks for your input, guys. We won't be commenting until we have some kind of concrete solution lined up, just letting you know!

There are plenty of other things you can do with a member of Team Rocket. As Dal stated below, ask the mods for something else for your character to do if you really don't like this situation. You no longer have to worry about your character not meeting those requirements or going OOC. If your character does well enough at their new job, then you could get a promotion. This can easily be played out on a case-by-case basis.

I suppose what I'm saying is that there are people enjoying it. I don't see why you're trying to change this just so that it fits one character when it is currently working for others as well. Perhaps your character is interested in science in canon. They can join up with the science division and work with Descole and Gorthan. If that's not their cup of tea then that's fine. They can obtain missions from Cobra or the Executives themselves. Still not something that fits your character? Okay, well you could follow Malik's example and work in the Game Corner. There are plenty of other options, anon.

I take into account the fact that my characters are required to obtain one Pokemon a week. Archer has high-leveled Pokemon so it's very simple for him to take out an NPC and send their Pokemon to Team Rocket. Wheatley and Ryuunosuke do have a more difficult time of it since they're lower leveled, but both of them manage it every week. From what I understand, your character wouldn't have to do this for the first two weeks since they're undergoing training. After that, it's really not all that difficult to find a mission you'd like your character to do or go to the mods. You could always send your character into Ilex Forest and pick up one of the Grass-type starters. That would count as your Pokemon for the week.

I'd also like to point out that your point about plotting with other people isn't valid. You don't have to plot with people and you don't have to handwave the stealing if you don't want to. If your character is the sort to brag about things, have them post to the network after they've taken out an NPC. You don't have to plan with anyone else and you've played out that scenario.

I'll admit, I'm still a little confused, anon. Do you actually play a Rocket here or are you thinking about apping one in? From what I've seen above and below this comment, it looks like the majority of the people who play Rockets don't have any issues with it. The mods have done a great job so far. I don't know how they would handle making this optional and still keep Team Rocket a very interesting alternative to playing a trainer or a breeder. Yes, we have the missions board and yes, this would be optional, but you could very easily not participate in either of those. There aren't really very many drawbacks to being in Team Rocket if that's the case - you get to start in Goldenrod, where the majority of the people are clustered and you get two starter Pokemon. Yes, the Pokemon are loyal to Team Rocket so you can't just ditch, but is that really enough? I think having this in place will help toughen up the Rockets and keep them a viable threat.

+1-ing this, and also adding: one of the biggest complaints that was lodged against the mods in the past regarding the Rockets was that all the options presented to them WERE optional.

This resulted in a lot of people questioning what the point of being in Team Rocket even WAS, since their characters weren't technically required to be doing anything and the Rocket class was more or less the same thing as the Trainer class.

The mods were told REPEATEDLY that if they didn't impose requirements to make Team Rocket act more like the criminal organization it was rather than just a loose affiliation, there was no reason for people to want to play Rockets.

That's not to say that there aren't still improvements that can be made, but come on. What's being proposed about stuff being optional is one of the things that was COMPLAINED about for months in the past.
