Coming soon to a city near you!
...if you're close to Celadon, anyway, BUT. Okay, some of you guys who've been here a while may remember a proposed Training Center. Well, now that Riku's gotten all of the badges, he's ready to set a plan into motion. For those who haven't heard and didn't see the comment on the plotting post, here's the basic idea:
Riku wants to open up a place where trainers can come in and train without having to worry about grinding against level 5 pidgeys and such. With his huge collection of level 100 Pokémon, he'll be running a business where trainers can come in and battle his team in order to improve their team's skills. There'd be a weekly cost of... probably around 5000 - 7000 P, although monthly and yearly passes will probably be made available over time.
Battles won't be the only feature, though. In addition to going toe-to-toe with some powerful beasts, Riku intends to set up a workout room and obstacle course to heighten skills outside of battle. These probably won't be available immediately, but if he can get some volunteers to help work out a game plan, then it'll definitely happen at some point or another.
Another service at the center will be 'private training,' where trainers with too many Pokémon to level at once can drop off their Pokémon for a few days to a month in order to work with the other Pokémon there. This will be a bit more pricy, and Riku will not take your level 1 hatchlings and grind them all the way to the max.
The other main attraction would be the Rental Service. Essentially, trainers will be able to pay to use one of Riku's level 100s for about a week tops for the purpose of strengthening their own team. These Pokémon will not help with gym battles, so don't think about steamrolling Falkner with a level 100 Jolteon, folks. :|b
Anyway, this is just a rough outline. If you've got suggestions of features to add, etc, I'd be happy to hear 'em. I know that in the past he's discussed the idea of having lessons, lectures, and other information available in addition to the hands-on opportunities.
Lastly, if there are any characters who would like to help Riku with his business, I would love to know, since this isn't something he'll have an easy time doing on his own. It could be something as simple as helping set up shop, offering Pokémon to use in the center, working at the front desk, ensuring Pokémon get food and proper care, the list goes on!
