Beltane/Mayday/Summer Fire Festival/"I suck at names" Plottan

With Saber's latest post, she mentioned holding a festival for a holiday familiar to her - Beltane. For most people, it's just another day of partying. She has a couple of people aiding her with this, so I wanted to open up plotting with the community. I intend to have it begin late in the evening on April 30 and last through May 1. While Saber normally would intend to plot for this to take place in Goldenrod City, she would be happy if other cities could celebrate it.

For those who can't make it to Goldenrod City easily, I'm sure she can arrange for transportation with those who offered to help. She can fly in people herself, but if there are others who would like to volunteer/handwave this, I'd appreciate it.

Saber's not the most creative when it comes to these things, so a lot of the festivities will be pretty basic. I'd love to add more, so if you have an idea, please let me know!

PLANNED ACTIVITIES SO FAR;

☀ Plenty of food. Enough to outlast two Sabers. Mostly things that can be toasted/roasted as this is a fire festival!
☀ Ribbon poles for dancing around. Additionally also for wrapping people up in streamers who can't keep up with.
☀ Torch tossing/catching. The first involves braziers and targets that people throw torches at to try to light up. The second is for those who are a bit more brave and enjoy tossing sticks on fire. There will be plenty of water Pokemon on duty.
☀ Two giant bonfires. It will be lit up at nightfall on April 30 by Pokemon and owners alike. Can be used to dance around or tell stories or to toast food. Passing between the two is a tradition as well! Especially for breeders and their Pokemon alright.
☀ Incense and wood to toss in the fire for different effects.
☀ Fireworks(???) I'm not sure if fireworks are easily acquired in Johto so this is debatable!
☀ A fire-type beauty contest! Saber wants to see all of the cute Pokemon.

I'm currently working on figuring out prizes for the beauty contest, but I do know winners will be determined by RNG. Although if you want to say your character is a judge for the contest, that is fine too.

So any ideas/complaints? :D

Nero would totally want to be a judge. Also, singing and dancing! Singing!

This looks really sweet to me! I'm a fan of bonfires, so this pleases me a lot. Maybe have someone around to explain what the festival is for those who don't know? c:

Maria will definitely be there!! And considering the amounts of food she will probably just be overfeeding her Slowpoke again as usual, but she'll join in on the less dangerous activities.. disappointed at lack of juusting!!

Ven'd recommend they have a tournament for the battlers, something that was done quite a while back with prop weapons to avoid injuries.

That aside, Ven and Link would both volunteer their assistance.

Oh a tournament would be a great idea. Saber is ALL ABOUT tournaments. Saber doesn't really know anyone now who can make prop weapons though, so maybe a hand to hand tournament? If so, I should get sign ups for them up pretty soon so we can make a bracket!

I bet they've got the Struggle gear laying around somewhere, but a hand-to-hand tournament would be fun and new. Pity the folks who face off against Armstrong, but Link could get into this sort of thing.

Kiki is totally going to want to get her witch on during Walpurgis night!

Could she make charms? She will collect all the flowers and will happily help decorate the maypoles with ribbons!

Nanao will be arriving in Goldenrod soonish, and will gladly help in the preparation of ridiculous amounts of delicious foods!

...and she may be able to help with the fireworks, too.
